Study of various properties of Self Consolidated Concrete using rice husk ash

This study develops the compressive strength, water permeability and workability of concrete by partial replacement of cement with agro-waste rice husk ash. Two types of rice husk ash with average particle size of 5 micron (ultra fine particles) and 95 micron and with four different contents of 5%, 10%, 15% and 20% by weight were used. Replacement of cement up to maximum of 15% and 20% respectively by rice husk ash, produces concrete with improved strength.

Use of tyre rubber in Self Consolidated Concrete

Self-consolidated concrete is a special type of concrete which requires less workability and is easy to stabilize. Selfconsolidated concrete using rubber is set up to consume the waste tyre rubber containing different types of untreated tyre rubber. Fine aggregates are replaced by weight with tyre rubber. The mechanical and micro structural behavior are investigated and discussed in this paper.

Diversity of Butterflies - Strategies adopted for its conservation at Yogi Vemana University campus, Kadapa, A.P., India

We documented the butterfly fauna and the host plants available in the Yogi Vemana University Campus during January 2013 to December 2013. Total 85 species of butterflies belonging to 5 families were recorded. This forms 46% of the butterflies documented from the Eastern Ghats. Fifty species of plants were found to be used as larval food plants in the campus. Among the butterflies recorded, 36 % belonged to Nymphalidae family, whereas family Hesperiidae showed lowest number of species (11%).

Evaluation of in-vitro antimicrobial activity of 2-aryloxy methyl oxazoline analogues

There has been a dramatic increase in pathogen resistance to both pharmaceutical and agrochemical antimicrobial agents. New prototypes (lead compounds) are needed to address this situation. In this connection, oxazoline analogues 3a-were evaluated in vitro for their efficacy as antimicrobial agents against representative strains of Gram-positive (S. aureus, S. aureus (MRSA), E. aerogens, M. luteus.) and Gram-negative bacteria (K. pneumonia, S. typhimurium, S. paratyphi- B, P. vulgaris) and, fungi (C. albicans, B,. cinerea, M. Pachydermatis, C krusei) by disc diffusion and minimum inhibitory concentration studies.

Malignant fibrous histiocytoma (MFH), the terminology implies that the origin of tumor cells is of fibroblastic and histiocytic cells. MFH was regarded as the single most common adult soft tissue sarcoma. MFH occurs most frequently on lower extremity, especially thigh, followed by upper extremity and retroperitoneum. We are presenting a case of MFH at right supra scapular region which is very rare site of presentation.

Food Searching and Collection by the Ants Pheidole roberti Forel

The ants Pheidole roberti Forel were offered sugar cubes each weighing 25-55mg, at 10 different sites of a human dwelling room locating in the ground floor at Garia in Kolkata, India to study the food searching and food collection behaviour. It is revealed that P. roberti, in course of their foraging act came in contact of the supplied sugar cubes at 10 sites within 2-753 (100.12 ± 7.82 SE) minutes (n = 220).
