Background: Breast cancer involves the uncontrolled proliferation of cells within the
breast tissue. Awareness and knowledge regarding this malignancy are essential for
women to engage in preventive measures effectively. Aim of the study: The study
aimed to determine the level of knowledge among women of working age about
breast cancer prevention. Material and methods: This study conducted a crosssectional
survey using a structured questionnaire distributed through street
interviews. A total of 100 female participants aged 18-59 years were included in the
study. Results: Our study found that the level of knowledge among women of
working age regarding breast cancer prevention is moderate. A total of 58% of
participants are aware that breast self-examination should be initiated after the age
of 20. However, only 18% identified it as the most straightforward method for early
detection for breast cancer. Additionally, 32% of respondents were aware of the
correct timing for performing breast self-examination. Conclusions: There is a clear
need of the implementation of educational programs aimed at enhancing women's
awareness and knowledge about breast cancer prevention.
