Cleome angulata (Cleomaceae) is recorded for the first time from Dharwad District,
Karnataka. This species was earlier reported from the states of Andhra Pradesh,
Maharashtra, and Telangana. The present record considered as a new distributional
record for the state which extends from the known geographical range. The present
species has been compared with Cleome chelidonii with respect to stem anatomy and
seed morphometry. The comparative account is represented with differences in
characters such as vegetative, anatomical, and seed which will be reliable taxonomic
evidence for species delimitation. The present study provides a detailed
morphological description along with coluored photoplate is provided.
